Job Responsibilities

The Cloud Systems Engineer will be responsible for:

·         Designing and implementing Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure to host multi-tier web applications, and deploying applications to the infrastructure

·         Managing security, availability and performance of Windows and RHEL OS, web, application and database servers

·         Monitoring the environment with tools provided by AWS and third-parties

·         Responding to automated alerts, troubleshooting and resolving issues

·         Supporting configuration changes through releases and patching cycles

·         Maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, system design, build, and change management documentation

·         Support development of incident response and disaster recover plan

·         Perform system analysis and determine how to automate infrastructure creation/startup tasks

·         Support testing and validation activities for certification and accreditation

·         Update infrastructure requirements tractability matrix documentation

Job Requirements

Technical Skills and Experience

Minimum 7 years demonstrated professional experience with:

·         Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 and later with Active Directory

·         Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and later installation, monitoring, backup/restore

·         Web servers (IIS, ASP.Net, Apache, Tomcat)

·         Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) installation and configuration

·         Experience deploying web-based multi-tier applications

·         Basic networking skills and understanding of HTTP, firewalls, load balancers, VPN

Non-Technical

·         Proactive, self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn

·         Results-oriented team player with a "can do" attitude

·         Creating and following standard operating procedures, improving processes

·         US Citizenship and ability to pass a public trust background check

Preferred Qualifications

·         Cloud computing platforms (e.g. Amazon EC2, OpenStack, Google Compute Engine, Microsoft Azure) --  AWS EC2, VPC, AWS firewall, ELB, EBS, S3 and IAM and other EC2 services a plus 

·         Software AG/WebMethods Suite is a plus

·         Develop deployment scripts for cloud using popular tools like Chef, Puppet

·         A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field of study

·         Industry certification in System Administration or Information Security

·         At least 5 years of professional experience with Web application delivery type of projects, preferably working for a Federal/State Government or a customer with high requirements for Personally Identifiable Information (PII) protection.
